Lucy McEachern is a renowned bronze sculptor, drawing inspiration from her rural surroundings. McEachern grew up in the Western district near Camperdown on a farming property with her family. After selling the family farm in 2015 McEachern moved onto a 4000 hectare property in Western Victoria where she runs 200 Hereford breeders and built a studio and exhibition space.
McEachen's adeptness to focus on specific detail in her birds is a result of becoming familiar with each breed. "I look at how feathers meet and the angle of the wing. I get more excited about the position that best describes the bird, and they all have very different personalities."
McEachern found a deep affinity with the enchanting birds that dwell in her local landscape. Her tactile sculptures not only capture the subject's individual characteristics, but also invite the viewer to feel its contours in a celebration of their majestic presence.
Each bronze piece is produced in a foundry in limited editions of 25, or 12 for larger works.
McEachern is one of only three Australians to be selected into 'Birds Of Art' exhibition held in Woodson Museum in Wisconsin USA, her sculptures can be found in galleries throughout Australia and collections worldwide.
