Since completing his BVA (sculpture major) in 1983 at the University of Tasmania, Michael Eather has been exhibiting across Australia and overseas. In 2019 he established Ghost Ship Studio (Brisbane) where he continues to explore his multi-disciplinary artistic practice. Michael has had twenty-eight solo exhibitions and been curated in over fifty group exhibitions nationally and internationally. Ongoing themes and ideas that feature in his (sculpture, painting and works on paper) explore metaphorical and symbolic narratives, imagination and abstraction, and the dissolving of these realms into what he describes as a ‘philosophical landscape’.

Parallel to above, Eather is the Director of FireWorks Gallery, a commercial enterprise established in 1993. In 1990 he co-founded Campfire Group Projects to promote collaboration and cross-cultural initiatives.
