Nura is an art gallery based in Sorrento, Victoria. Established in 2017, the gallery has built a reputation as a refuge to find, learn and experience a range of outstanding Australian Art past and present. Nura exhibits a select stable of emerging and established career artists, and works extensively in the secondary market, researching, consigning, buying and selling on its own behalf as well as that of its clients.
With a particular interest in Australian cultural identity, it is fitting that the heritage Sorrento building "Gannawarra' (est 1905) has become home to the Nura Gallery. The historic space provides a unique setting to showcase art, with continually rotating art presentations in each. Nura is a gallery breaking the mould of city galleries, and has been built with a homeliness and humbleness in mind. A variety of art disciplines are presented in the gallery including paintings, works on paper, sculpture, photography, rare prints, indigenous artefacts, ceramics, glass and other collectible objects.
The genesis of the Nura Gallery lies in sharing and building profile to the art community of Australia. A passion to source and exhibit quality contemporary Australian artworks, to help emerging artists build presence and assist the careers of established career artists are strong motivating forces behind the work we do.
In addition to revolving exhibition displays, the gallery is involved in art advisory, valuation, commissioning, commercial projects and collection management art services.
